Manpower


In order for a person to work he/she must be recruited in the first place unless he/she starts their own business. Recruitment means the process of finding who are best suited for the needs of the business. There are many ways to recruit a worker, they are:

-Job Advertisement

Internal recruitment is when a business is looking for suitable applicants within the organization. Vacancies can be advertised on the notice boards inside the company.

Advantages
. It saves time and money, compared with recruiting someone from outside the business.
. The person is already known to the business andtheir reliaility, ability and potetial are know.
. The person also knows the organisation's way of working and what is expected from employees.
. It can be very motivating forother employees to see their fellow workers being promoted - makes them work harder



External recruitment involves hiring staff from outside the organisation. They will bring fresh ideas with them but they are unknown to the company.

Job advertisement reflects the job description and the person specification for the job by stating qualifications and experience. It must also be legal and have respect to gender, ethnic and racial minorities.

After applying for a job, the manager or boss of the business has to select you in order for you to be able to work in the business. There are five common methods:

Job Description is given to the candidates for the job so they know exactly what the job entails. It wll allow a Job Specification to be drawn up, to see if the candidates 'match up to the job', so that peeople with the right skills will be employed. Once someone has been employed, it will show whether they are carrying out thee job effectively. If disputes occur about what the employee is asked to do, it is something both the employee and the employer can referto in order to settle any questions.

Job Specification once a job description has been drawn up, the qualification and qualities necessary to undertake the job can be specified. This list of desirable and essential requriements for the job is called a job, or person, specification.

Interview
– pretty straight forward
-Psychometric testing – assessing the personality of the applicant
-Aptitude testing – assessing the skills of the applicant
-In-tray exercise – activity based on what the applicant will be doing
-Presentation – looking for different skills as well as ideas of the candidate

If you were lucky enough to be selected by the boss, you get to work. HOLD IT! Before you start to work, training is usually needed. Incase you mess up in the job. They could be either:

-On-the-job training
-Off-the-job training

The difference between the two is that on-the-job training is training during the applicants working hour, while off-the-job training is training during some other time.

After a person had worked in the business for some time they might face some problems such as redundancy or dismissal. This two of them are similar except for redundant means you can still have you salary even though if you were forced to leave, but the salary usually only lasts a few months so if you were smart you’d better start looking for a job.

Dismissal on the other hand is not that good. If you were dismissed it means that:

-You were not capable of doing the tasks in the job
-You broke a conduct such as safety rules or endangered others around you
-You just can’t work in the business. For example an illegal immigrant

When you are forced to leave you do not get the salary for the following month if you were dismissed.
